School Mosaic Projects

Project Funding

One School recently needed pavers to surround the swimming pool.  It was decided that the Children could each design and paint a ceramic tile, make a mosaic and then cast the tile and mosaic in concrete to create a paver.

Each participating child’s family agreed to cover the $30 cost for the mosaic paver and $5 of this went back to the school to fund the rest of the paving.  The children had an awesome experience and helped to fund a beautiful and functional part of their school.

Children at another school painted tiles in a “Town / Country” theme supporting what was going on in the classroom.  Families agreed to pay $20 for each tile and of this $5 went directly the school.

The resulting Mosaic formed a number line which featured an Octopus at Number 1 and Periwinkles at Number 20.

The children at Pukerua Bay School were looking at the effect of the Rahui and which sea creatures occurred more frequently than others.
